| Throughout this second year of studying the Spanish language, you will learn more about the Spanish language and about the Hispanic world-its fascinating history, rich culture, and, above all, its great need for the gospel of Christ.Language is one of God's highest gifts to mankind, and studying it is one of the greatest privileges He has given to people made in His image. Language allows us to communicate with God in a way none of the rest of His creatures enjoy, and it allows us to interact with our fellow human beings in a profound way. Though it was man's sin that led God to create the first foreign languages at the Tower of Babel (Gen.11), He has provided us the ability to learn foreign languages for His glory. In fact, in giving us this ability, God not only gave us access to appreciate the richness of meaning a foreign language provides, but also provided us with an opportunity to overcome, if only partially, the separation the Tower of Babel began. Learning a foreign language can be your divinely enabled opportunity to help reconcile a nation to God through the gospel of Christ(Acts 17:24-27). |
