| I wrote this book for an audience of one-Jessica Ruth Seep (soon to be Ekholm). I write from my heart to hers on the occasion of her marriage. Why would she read this book? Because I'm her old man, I love her dearly, I've always been there for her, and I'm giving it to her straight. I've been around the block a few more times than she has and I mean to give her sensible counsel on a host of pertinent marriage-related subjects--the nature of marriage, the priority of acceptance, conflict, roles, money, romance and sex, children, inlaws, communication, forgiveness, mutual submission, respect and honor, faithfulness, power games, dealing with setbacks, dreams and goals, and always and throughout, thinking about marriage from the perspective of faith. But, in another way, the audience for this kind of book is far more than one. There are myriads of parents who love their children dearly, have always been there for them, and who yearn to utilize the occasion of their marriages to give it to them straight. Perhaps this is the little book you would love to have written to your child. Perhaps this is the little book you would love your child to read. |

| Shirley Murdock's name does more than ring a bell. It calls up memories of a string of Top Five R&B/pop smashes and a RIAA Certified Gold record. From recent Gospel projects with TD Jakes (“Sacred Love Songs” and “Woman Thou Art Loosed”) and a successful solo Gospel project entitled“Home”, Shirley has remained in HIS service! Soulfood is her Tyscot Records debut release that is full of lyrical recipes sure to feed the soul’s appetite for Urban, Praise &Worship and Traditional Gospel. | Getting a Christian worldview is all the rage these days. But how about a Christian worldlife? Got one of those? |

| Road rage, animal rights, cyberporn, crystal healing, doctor-assisted suicide--everywhere we look, the signs all tell us we're living in a post-Christian culture. Or are we? Leonard Sweet--cultural historian, preacher, futurist, creatologist, and preeminent thinker--firmly believes we live today in a pre-Christian society, fraught with challenges, dangers, critical choices, and above all, tremendous potential for the church. The outcome will depend on our response to today's flood of religious pluralism that threatens to sweep us away. What will we do? Deny the reality of the incoming surge? "Hunker in the bunker," hermetically sealing ourselves in an increasingly out-of-touch church counterculture? Or will we boldly hoist our sails, and--looking to God for guidance and strength--move with confidence and purpose over the waves. |

| I will never speak in public! Famous last words. Many people have vowed not to speak in public and yet have found that their path of life went straight to a podium in from of people. Ask some of the speakers you know if they have had formal speech training. Most who have had training will agree that it benefited them greatly. Their training benefited them because public speaking is not just about speaking in front of hundreds of people in a crowded auditorium; it is about class projects, Sunday school classes, work presentations, and community events.Surveys report that 75 percent of Americans have glossophobia, the fear of speaking in public. According to the Encyclopedia of Human Emotion, as many as 20 percent of people have a serious problem with this fear. Most people ranked stage fright ahead of their fear of heights, insects, financial disaster, deep water, sickness, and even death. If you begin this class with a positive attitude and a desire to please the Lord, you will finish the semester with new friends, a clearer understanding of yourself, and a new preparedness "to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you" (I Pet. 3:15). |
