Join Neil Perkins, Latin student at Haltwhistle Grammar School in England, as he uncovers a story of usurpation, treachery, and betrayal. After unearthing an ancient Roman manuscript, Neil dedicates himself to studying Latin and translates this exciting story from the third century. Disaffected centurion Rusticus serves Rome at Hadrian's Wall, an unruly frontier. He is saved from massacre by Cadwal, a Celt who was deeply changed when he saw Christians martyred in the Roman Colosseum. Readers will learn the differences between ancient paganism and the primal Christian faith practiced in third-century Britain by only a remnant. Hot Flashes From Heaven

Millions of women enter what is called "mid-life" (over age 40) every year. Speaker, writer, and "Sister in the Journey" Ronna Snyder shares how these women can avoid a crisis and discover instead a joyful beginning of a richer and deeper way to live. Ronna found herself going from doctor to doctor trying to find someone who could tell her what was wrong with her. She heard words like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and depression before finally hearing a specialist on the radio listing all of her symptoms and realizing that she was experiencing the beginning of menopause. With all the changes this time of life brings-kids leaving home, parents needing care, new marriage roles, etc.-the turmoil and addition of the physical and emotional effects of menopause can seem overwhelming. Ronna writes with humor, faith, and transparency to help other women face down their fears and live with passion and fullness.

Hot Issues : Jesus Confronts Todays Controversies

The Reality Check series makes just one assumption: that you're serious enough about your spiritual journey to investigate Christianity with an open mind. This isn't about joining anyone's religious club_it's about being real with yourself and with the others in your group. Since no one has all the answers, there's plenty of room for discussion. After all, if there is any truth to the Bible's stories about Jesus, then one thing he'd welcome are questions and opinions that come from honest, earnest hearts.Have you stopped to consider just how broken this planet really is? Look around you. Poverty, racism, intolerance, materialism, oppression of women . . . it doesn't take long to see plenty that needs fixing. Hot Issues explores six current social evils that affect us all one way or another. They'll come as no surprise_until you explore Jesus' radical responses to the same issues in his time.
